The new plant aims to double the company’s production capacity to 60,000 tons of malt per year
In Pleven, they are starting the construction of a new plant of a leading French company for the production of malt. The investment project is worth 56 million euros.
The French company has more than 92 sites in 38 countries, in our country it develops its activities through factories in Pleven and Haskovo.
The new plant aims to double the company’s production capacity to 60,000 tons of malt per year.
Mayor Georg Spartanski said: “When a foreign investor expands production, it shows that he makes a good assessment that the place here is suitable for expanding the existing investment and shows an attitude of the investor towards the economic environment.”
“Malteri Souffle”, one of the three largest malt producers in the world, a subsidiary of the European agricultural group “InVivo”, today broke ground for the new production site of “Malteri Souffle Bulgaria” in Pleven, writes plevenzapleven.
The event was marked with a solemn ceremony with the participation of the French Ambassador His Excellency Joel Meyer, the Minister of Economy and Industry Nikola Stoyanov, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture Todor Dzhikov, the Regional Governor Ivan Petkov, the Mayor of the Municipality of Pleven Georg Spartanski, the management teams of the French investors and their Bulgarian partners.
Mayor Spartanski handed the representatives of “Malteri Souffle” and “InVivo” the construction permit to start for the site. He and the French investors were adamant that the investment, in collaboration with local producers, gives the Pleven and regional economy and agriculture a chance to develop.
It is also a strong positive sign for potential foreign and Bulgarian investors who intend to invest in the northern part of Bulgaria, and specifically in the Pleven Municipality.
The executor of the construction of the new plant will be the renowned Pleven construction company HORIZONT – IVANOV, and the French company assured that they will work with the agricultural producers of the region as a priority.
With this new plant with a production capacity of 60,000 tons of malt per year, “Malteri Soufflé” invests nearly 60 million euros in the barley-malt-beer chain in Bulgaria and thus strengthens its position as a leading malt producer in the country.
The new malt plant will replace the two current Bulgarian production sites, located 240 km from each other (in Pleven and Haskovo), whose total production capacity does not exceed 30,000 tons.
In addition to doubling production, the new plant, which is expected to be commissioned at the end of 2024, will meet the latest standards for productivity, safety and energy savings.
The installed solar farm at the site is expected to produce 3.2 GWh, or meet 40% of electricity needs, reducing the current carbon footprint by over 1,700 tonnes of emissions per year.
