Renowned Soccer Player from Sincelejo Loses Life in Motorcycle Accident

Daniel Martínez Yadis, a renowned soccer player from Sincelejo, lost his life on the night of Thursday, April 13, 2023, after an accident on the motorcycle on which he was riding.

The 29-year-old athlete, known as ‘El Pucho’, was returning to his place of residence in the southern part of the capital of Sucre, after training with his third division team Talento Palmitero.

As it became known, the sinister road appeared at the height of the Cerrito de la Palma corregimiento and the victim suffered severe blows to the head that minutes later caused her death.

Martínez Yadis was about to join the Corozal Primera C team this year, but due to lack of money to pay for his transfer, he returned to the Palmito club.

Two days ago, ‘El Pucho’ had asked Professor Julio Valero to allow him to return to Talento Palmitero, he said yes and when he was returning from training he suffered a fatal accident.

The athlete died in the Intensive Care Unit of the Sincelejo University Hospital where he had been admitted, after having an accident at approximately 6:00 in the afternoon.

Daniel, who was recognized not only for his great talent with the ball, but for his ability to make friends and win the affection of people, was going to have his birthday this Friday, April 14.

The soccer player began on the pitch in the Olaya Herrera neighborhood of Sincelejo, when he was barely a child, then went on to play for important teams such as BJ Fútbol Club, Talento Sampuesano and Talento Palmitero, among others.
