Demir himself is asking for the temporary restraining order to be applied more often in such violent situations and has been trying to promote it to the public prosecutor’s offices and attorney generals for a few years now.
“We are not there yet. In a city like Rotterdam, with 600,000 inhabitants, the measure is taken as often as in the whole of Flanders with 6 million inhabitants. It is also desperately needed. If there is violence in the family, you must at all times protect victims, especially children, because that often leaves injuries.”
