Ua subsidiary company of the construction company Spanish ACS will be in charge of building the first football stadium in the city of NYwhich will have 25,000 seats and will host the New York City FC (NYCFC)according to a statement from this club.
The club announced this Friday that the construction of the stadium, whose opening date is scheduled for 2027, will be carried out by Turner Construction Companya subsidiary of the company chaired by Florentino Pérez, maximum president of the Real Madridwhile the design will be carried out by the American architecture firm HOK.
The construction, which will be built in the district of Queens is part of a project to transform the industrial area of Willets Pointwhich includes 2,500 affordable homes, parks, a public school, a hotel and a shopping area, and which is expected to generate some 16,000 jobs, according to authorities.
A project of 780 million dollars
The total value of the project, which will be covered entirely by the football club, rises to around 780 million dollars (709 million euros).
The statement points out that the stadium, which will be located near the headquarters of the United States Tennis Open and the ballpark of the Mets of New York, will also be designed to offer “a variety of services and events throughout the year.
“We are honored to be a part of the team building the new home of NYCFC. The stadium will elevate the experience for this incredible team and its fans,” said Vice President of Turner, Charlie Whitney.
The stadium will open after the 2026 World Cup that the United States will organize with Canada and Mexico.
