The Civil Guard destroys an aircraft bomb located in a place in Villadangos del Páramo (León)
The Special Group for the Deactivation of Explosives (Gedex) of the Civil Guard of León have destroyed an aviation bomb that an individual had found when he was hiking through a place in the town of Villadangos del Páramo. The specialists went to the place and, once the artifact was located, they were able to verify its poor state of conservation due to the passage of time, so they proceeded to destroy it in an area close to the place of discovery, the Civil Guard has reported.
The artifact was identified as a ‘Hispania A-5’ aviation bomb, a model used during the Civil War.
The Gedex of the Civil Guard carry out the functions and missions related to the detection, neutralization and deactivation in the field of the explosive, nuclear, radiological, biological and chemical threat (E-NRBQ).
It is recommended that, upon the discovery of any explosive device, they should never be touched or handled due to the danger that a possible accidental activation entails, so it is advisable to sign them and notify them immediately by calling the Civil Guard Emergency telephone number. 062.
