1. Against an inflamed eye
With an irritated or inflamed eye, it is smart to bring chamomile tea into your home. Due to the anti-inflammatory effect and the calming effect, you will suffer less from your eye. Apply the well-drawn chamomile tea to your eyelid with a cotton pad or washcloth, let it cool briefly and then gently rub from the outside in.
2. Combat insomnia
Do you regularly have trouble falling asleep? Then you may find it difficult to relax. Chamomile tea is a wonderful tool for this that helps to calm you down, allowing you to relax your body and sleep better. Drink about three glasses a day or have a cup of chamomile tea just before going to bed.
3. Reduces stomach and intestinal complaints
This calming effect is not only beneficial against insomnia, but also has a calming effect that counteracts stomach cramps and intestinal complaints. Chamomile tea helps relax the muscles of the intestinal tract and soothes the stomach, reducing pain and cramps.
To notice this effect, you can drink a full cup of chamomile tea twice a day, for example in the morning and evening.
4. Antibacterial effect
Chamomile tea protects you from various bacterial infections. With a starting sore throat, cold or flu, it is therefore wise to drink chamomile tea, so that you recover faster.
5. Promotes healthy and radiant skin
Chamomile is also widely used in skin care products. For example, it would reduce stress on your skin and it has a disinfecting effect, which works very well against pimples! In addition, amille tea reduces dark circles and pigment spots due to its brightening effect. To get that effect, you can put a bag of chamomile tea on your eyelids or dark spots.
This vegetable remedy is packed with antioxidants that make your skin glow and make it more even. It protects your skin against free radicals and shrinks your pores. Chamomile even slows down wrinkle formation. A face cream or skin oil with chamomile in it is therefore not a bad idea.
6. Treatment of wounds
In addition to an anti-inflammatory and calming effect, chamomile (tea) also has a healing effect for abrasions, ulcers, eczema, bumps and burns.
In these cases, make sure you steep chamomile tea with about three sachets in a cup of boiling water. Then let the tea cool down thoroughly and then dab it on the burn or abrasion with a clean cloth.
Chamomile also helps to heal skin irritations such as rashes, itching, hives and eczema. This is again due to its antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect.
Don’t drink too much chamomile
But beware, as with many other products, too much chamomile tea is not good. For example, an excess of chamomile tea leads to stomach complaints. It is also not the intention that you become too sleepy, because this can pose a danger if you participate in traffic. In addition, it is of course not conducive to your (school) work. Chamomile tea also has a blood-thinning effect. So be extra careful if you take blood thinners.
But what is the guideline for the number of cups per day? It’s up maximum two cups of chamomile tea (about 2 to 3 grams of chamomile) per day for a healthy amount.
