Jakarta Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono announced plans to resume the Monas revitalization program which was launched during the former Anies Baswedan’s administration. The Provincial Government aims to revitalize Monas with a green concept and plant 300 new trees in the cultural heritage area. The support facilities such as an amphitheater for public gathering spaces will also be constructed. However, the revitalization is still waiting for the order of the State Secretary Ministry as the owner of the land. The budget for the revitalization of the Monas will come from the Jakarta Provincial Government, the SOE Ministry, the Transportation Ministry, the Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Ministry, and PT Kereta Api Indonesi. The city government will expand the green area by increasing the number of trees and seek advice from the Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Ministry for the arrangement of green areas at Monas. Heru ensured that there will be no changes in the southern area which had been laid with concrete during Anes Baswedan’s leadership. The construction of Plaza Selatan Monas in Anies Baswedan’s era caused the city administration to cut down hundreds of trees to make space for the plaza. Therefore, the revitalization concept differs from that in Anies’ era.
