Landslide in Lofoten: One Person Injured and Hospitalized After Road Crossing Slide

The Lofoten Post: One person was caught by the landslide that crossed the road, and that person was taken to hospital.

– The person is badly injured, but alive, says operations manager Kai Eriksen to Lofotposten.

An ambulance has arrived at the scene and is transporting the person to the SAR Queen rescue helicopter which is waiting for Vareid. The helicopter took off with the patient on board at 2.30 pm.

The slide has occurred at Hestneset, roughly midway between Vareid and Vikten, 400 meters from the slide cover.

According to the police, it is approximately 20 meters wide and contains large amounts of pulp. There is extensive damage on the road.

– The geologist and contractor have been contacted, the police confirm.

The fire service has also rushed to the scene.
