Police officers from Haryana, India have been questioned over the deaths of two Muslim men who were killed on suspicion of cow smuggling in February. Nasir, 25, and Junaid, 35, were kidnapped, beaten and killed by cow vigilantes. Gaurav Srivastava, inspector general of police in Bharatpur district said officials in neighbouring Rajasthan had identified a “huge lapse” on the part of their counterparts in Haryana. The cow vigilantes had taken the men to the police, but were asked to take them elsewhere.
