Wall Street closes in green on slowing inflation data

Wall Street closed this Thursday in green and the Dow Jones Industrials, its main indicator, rose 1.14%, encouraged by the latest data on inflation in the US, which point to a slowdown.

At the close of operations, the Dow Jones rose to 34,029.69 points and the selective S&P 500 advanced 1.33%, to 4,146.22 points.

The Nasdaq market composite index, in which the main technology companies are listed, was the most favored of the session and gained 1.99%, up to 12,166.27 integers.

The New York parquet reacted optimistically today to the producer price index for March, which reflects the supply conditions in the economy and which fell 0.5% compared to the previous month.

This measure seems to continue the cooling trend in the inflation rate, which in March fell for the ninth consecutive month to stand at 5%, according to what the Government announced yesterday.

Apart from that, the number of jobless claims rose last week to 239,000, the highest level in more than a year, adding to the perception that the labor market is weakening.

Investors were also watching the batch of quarterly results that has already started and will have an intense day tomorrow, with the accounts of various large financial institutions.

For now, the Delta airline reported losses in the quarter of the year and, although they were reduced by 61% compared to the same period of the previous year, its shares fell 1.10%.

By sectors, the gains predominated, led by communications companies (2.33%), non-essential goods (2.31%) and technology (1.95%), while only real estate decreased (-0.4% ).

Among the 30 Dow Jones values, the advances of Apple (3.41%), Disney (2.97%), Nike (2.24%) and Microsoft (2.24%) stood out and only IBM (-0.50) fell %) and Travelers (-0.37%).

In other markets, Texas oil closed at $82.16 a barrel, and at the end of the trading session the yield on the 10-year US bond rose to 3.449%, gold rose to $2,054.7 an ounce, and the dollar lost ground against the euro, with a change of 1.1046.
