An Asian One Caravan type aircraft with flight code PK LTF was reportedly shot while trying to land at Beoga airport, Puncak Regency, Papua Middle.
Quoting the Antara news agency, Danrem 173/PVB Brigadier General Sri Widodo confirmed this. He said the shooting hit the front and left of the plane.
Even so, the Asian One plane managed to land at the Beoga airfield. So far, the authorities have not explained the perpetrators of the shooting and the impact of the incident.
This is not the first time that an airplane has been shot in Papua. Last month, a Trigana Air plane was shot at the Dekai airfield, Yahukimo.
The Boeing aircraft belonging to Trigana Air IL 222 Series 300 with flight number PK-YSC was shot down in Papua on March 11. The plane still managed to land and continue flying to Sentani Airport.
Seven people were arrested following the shooting. The Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Benny Prabowo, stated
“Seven people and some evidence we have secured for further investigation and to look for evidence of firearms used to carry out the shooting,” he said.
