Possible Armed Man Triggers Confinement at Lachine Hospital in Montreal

The Lachine hospital was in confinement for a few hours Thursday afternoon. The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) indicated that a “money code” had been triggered after an armed man was seen not far from the Montreal establishment.

The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) has confirmed that no one was seen with a firearm inside the hospital.

Around 1:30 p.m., a call was made to 911 to report the possible presence of an armed man on 13e avenue near rue Provost, not far from the health facility.

“When they arrived on the scene, the police checked and did not locate anyone,” said SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant. As a preventive measure, the Lachine Hospital and the CHSLD Camille Lefebvre are placed in confinement, and the public is asked to avoid going there.

No gunshots were reported. The police operation is still ongoing.

“The SPVM is continuing its research and is not taking any risks in this type of event,” said Mr. Brabant.

Shortly before 4 p.m., “the silver code at Lachine Hospital and CHSLD Camille-Lefebvre ended,” announced the McGill University Health Center (MUHC).
