Police in Indonesia have killed two men believed to have links to terrorist group Jemaah Islamiyah, which has been blamed for a number of bombings across Southeast Asia. The two men were shot following a raid in Lampung province, southern Sumatra, during which a police officer was seriously injured. The raid was part of a nationwide crackdown on Jemaah Islamiyah amid information that it was recruiting and training new members. The two dead men were also accused of harbouring Zulkarnaen, the former commander of Jemaah Islamiyah who eluded capture for 18 years and was sentenced to 15 years in prison last year. The US has designated the group a terrorist organisation.
