The 18th match of IPL 2023 is currently underway. Punjab Kings are facing the reigning champions Gujarat Titans at their home ground Mohali.
Punjab lost the toss in the match and are batting in front of their own crowd. But the hosts did not get off to a good start. Even before four overs, both of Punjab’s openers had pitched the tent.
In the match against Sunrisers, Punjab lost the wickets of captain Shikhar Dhawan and youngster Prabhsimran Singh, who single-handedly carried the team.
While Dhawan got out with eight runs from eight balls, Prabhsimran returned for zero on the second ball of the innings.
Prabhsimran is out for the second time in a row. In the third match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Prabhsimran got the wicket of Bhuvneshwar Kumar on the very first ball and fell to Shami in the fourth match. The star, who returned as a golden duck earlier, was eliminated as a silver duck in this match.
After performing well in the first two matches for Punjab, Prabhsimran’s back-to-back defeats have left the fans sad.
Prabhsimran made waves in the second match of Punjab Kings against Rajasthan Royals at the Barsapara Stadium in Assam. The player who hit world class bowlers with seven fours and three sixes in 34 balls scored 60 runs at a strike rate of 176.47.
The star also performed well in the first match against KKR.
The player scored 23 (12), 60 (34), 0, (1), 0 (2) in the last four matches.
If Prabhsimran is not able to bring out the excellence that he showed in the first matches in the subsequent matches, the impact on Punjab and the fans will not be small.
Meanwhile, Punjab are three for 36 after eight overs. Wicket keeper Jitesh Sharma and Bhanuka Rajapaksa are at the crease for Kings.
