For Earth Month, Samsung will raise funds to protect our forests
As Canadians once again celebrate Earth Month this April, Samsung Canada is partnering with the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Canada to launch a new campaign to raise funds to help FSC Canada protect the health and sustainability of Canada’s forests.
Throughout April, Samsung Canada will donate CAD 1 to FSC Canada for every purchase made in-store and online at Samsung.com, up to a maximum of CAD 10,000[1]. In addition, throughout June 2023, Samsung will donate an additional CAD 10[2] to FSC Canada for any feedback (positive or negative) that Canadians leave on the Samsung website up to CAD 6,000.
“At Samsung Canada, we recognize that there is a shared responsibility to protect the environment and create a more sustainable future for all,” commented Jennifer Groh, Senior Director, Social Awareness and Corporate Communications, Samsung Canada. “With FSC Canada, we help plant and maintain healthy, sustainable forests. »
Samsung strives to manufacture and distribute products with more environmentally friendly resources. Samsung products sold globally since 2009 include 220,000 tons of recycled plastic, and efforts are being made to double that figure by 2030[3]. Samsung has also pledged to send zero waste to landfill and reduce its e-waste by 2025, as well as produce zero direct and indirect carbon emissions by 2050.[4]
FSC labels, which are the most recognized and rigorous forest certification system, verify that products have been sourced responsibly and sustainably throughout the supply chain, which helps brands and consumers to work together for the future of forests. FSC labels are a commitment to halt deforestation, protect ancient and endangered forests, promote a fair working environment and wages, preserve biodiversity, and defend the land rights of communities, including peoples. indigenous.
