S.E. was handed over to court also for the fact that on 07.09.2021 in Plovdiv he knowingly used a false private document – an application that was given the appearance that it was signed by another person – a crime under Art. 316 of Art. 309 par. 1 of the Criminal Code.
In the case, it was established that S.E. promised the victim to assist her in transferring her brother, who was a student at the Medical University in Pleven, to the Medical University in Plovdiv, where she studied. The woman discovered S.E. through an intermediary in a group in a mobile application.
To perform the service, the injured party transferred a total of 9,500 euros to him with the above-mentioned BGN equivalent on several occasions. S.E. insisted that the victim provide the money in cash, but she transferred it to the bank account of his relative.
Then S.E. stopped picking up his mobile phone and did not take any action regarding the transfer of her brother to MU – Plovdiv. He lost his student rights. To be convincing, S.E. met the victim and showed an application for enrollment and a fake student card in the name of her brother, asking for money for semester fees.
The woman refused to give it, but he convinced her that if she didn’t, “someone else will take her brother’s place.” Despite her request to transfer the money to the university’s account, SE insisted that it be done in his bank account account, and he was going to transfer them, which didn’t happen.
S.E. has taken a measure of remand “guarantee” in the amount of BGN 5,000. He has reimbursed BGN 17,640 to the victim. The District Court-Plovdiv is about to schedule a hearing on the case.
