Russian Deputy Minister warns of increasing risk of military confrontation with NATO

Russian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Grushko warned that the risk of a direct military confrontation between Russia and NATO is increasing, BNR informs.

In an interview, Alexander Grushko stated that with the joint efforts of NATO, the Baltic region was transformed from one of the most peaceful militarily and politically into a “zone of military rivalry”.

According to Grushko, the increase of the border between Russia and the Alliance by 1,200 km after the accession of Finland increases the risk of a military clash many times over.

According to the deputy minister, it is still premature to talk about the possible deployment of nuclear weapons on Finnish territory, judging by the statements of the officials in Helsinki and Washington.

At the same time, Grushko paid attention to the modernization of the Finnish army. As an example, he pointed to the acquisition of F-35 fighter jets, which can be carriers of nuclear weapons.
