“A security conflict may eat everything and everything,” with that phrase, the Sudanese army warned earlier today, Thursday, of the military moves carried out by the Rapid Support Forces headed by Muhammad Hamdan Dagalo (aka Hamidti) in the Marawi region in the northern state of Sudan.
How did the spark of this tension start?
According to well-informed sources, at the beginning of Ramadan, the Rapid Support Forces began building a fence and facilities on a land adjacent to the city’s airport.
However, the army forces refused to station the RSF in the area, after it justified its deployment there by owning agricultural land near Marawi airport.
More than 100 cars
However, the peak of this tension was exacerbated during the past hours, after a force of more than 100 vehicles from the Rapid Support Forces arrived in Marawi.
This prompted the army, according to Al-Arabiya sources, to deploy there in anticipation of any security breakdown.
He also gave the Rapid Support Forces a deadline to leave Marawi, warning at the same time that the security conflict would slip away, which would put the country at a very dangerous juncture.
In the context, a senior official in the Armed Forces told Al-Arabiya / Al-Hadath that the movements of the Rapid Support Forces (100 vehicles) took place without any coordination and arrangement with the military leadership in Khartoum and other units in the Northern State.
He also considered that those moves, which he described as a strategy, give an indication that the rapid support is arranged to become part of any movement or scenario that the northern region may witness during the coming period.

Express support denies
It is noteworthy that the Rapid Support Forces had earlier denied allegations of carrying out military operations towards Marawi Airport. It confirmed that the presence of its forces in the northern state comes within the framework of performing their duties and tasks, as is the case in the rest of the states.
It also confirmed in a statement yesterday that it is working in coordination with the Armed Forces Command and the rest of the other regular forces.
However, the army’s statement today clearly showed the existence of serious differences between the two parties.
The differences between the two parties also crystallized during the security reform workshop that was held a few weeks ago in the capital, Khartoum, especially with regard to the file of integrating the Rapid Support Forces into the ranks of the army, and the criteria for this integration and others, which led to the postponement of the announcement of the final political agreement in the country.
