I had the idea of this picture in mind: comet Neowise above the pontoon of the Pic du Midi, recount Yannick Legodec. I spent a sleepless night to get it“. A sleepless night, a lapse of time of barely 10 minutes at 5 a.m. to achieve the shot he dreamed of.

Due to Earth’s rotation, Neowise moved across the sky. I waited, without certainty, for this crucial moment, when perhaps the comet “of our decade” would come to position itself just above and in the middle of the Pic du Midi pontoon” he explains. In video, the report of Christine Ravier, Manon Bazerque and Anne Amsili.

At the end of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre pontoon, the silhouette of a person, arms outstretched above his head, as if he were at the prow of the Titanic, facing the horizon and the comet Neowise . Photography has something magical! Inconceivable not to share it with you in its original format…

Yannick Legodec has been crisscrossing the Pyrenees for several months in order to take the chain from every angle. His specialty is night photography. “I was invited by the Pic du Midi and equipped by Canon to complete my journey. It’s a great place, thanks in particular to the starry reserve. The sky is super clear and super clear. I was very lucky because there was also the sea of clouds“.

The whole night on the site was devoted to making images of the sky and the comet. Almost unreal shots that one would think were taken directly from illustrations of tales and legends. “The difficulties are mainly to the north. There is some nighttime pollution from towns at the foot of the Pyrenees, such as Tarbes“explains Yannick.

From this work, Yannick Legodec hopes to draw an exhibition or a book. “My wish is to make people discover the riches of this region”. But the challenge is also for the photographer to make himself known.

A professional photographer for a year, he kept his job in a factory in Pau. For this talented 39-year-old artist, the Pic du Midi and comet Neowise offer the opportunity to make a dream come true.
