US authorities collaborate with Discord to probe classified document leakage.

The Discord platform is cooperating with the US authorities in the investigation of the leakage of classified documents of the US Department of Defense and Intelligence. This was reported Reuters with reference to the company’s statement. Earlier, the media wrote that initially the documents could get into the network through Discord.

“We are cooperating with law enforcement on a recent leak of classified material,” the company said in a statement. They added that they could not provide any details, as the investigation continues.

Last week, classified US documents surfaced on social media. They contain materials on Ukraine’s plans for a counteroffensive, as well as information about China and the Middle East. The US Department of Justice is conducting a criminal investigation into the leak, as well as assessing its consequences for the fighting in Ukraine and the work of American intelligence. The White House said they did not yet know if the source of the leak had been located.

According to media reports, social networks and instant messengers could become the primary source of the leak. The media wrote that initially the documents got into the network from an already remote server in Discord, after which they spread through the 4chan forum and the Telegram messenger. According to Reuters, some of the documents were forged to mislead investigators.
