Action fake charity QRIS mode of fraud in several mosques in Jakarta and South Tangerang that have occurred in the last few days, it has been revealed. The suspect, M Iman Mahlil Lubis (39) spread the fake QRIS in 38 mosques as well as banks.
Iman Mahlil is in action for a week from 1-9 April 2023. During that time, he has worked alone and has earned tens of millions of rupiah.
The suspect, who is known to be a former state-owned bank employee, deceived the public by ostensibly raising funds for ‘Mosque Restoration’. In fact, the funds collected through this fake QRIS went into his personal account.
The fraud committed by Iman Mahlil was uncovered from the CCTV footage. From CCTV footage in several mosques, Iman Mahlil was seen sticking ‘fake’ charity QRIS in the mosque’s charity box.
Iman Mahlil Lubis has been named a suspect and detained. He was charged with Article 28 paragraph 1 juncto Article 45a paragraph 1 and/or Article 35 juncto 51 paragraph 1 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning ITE and/or Article 80 and/or Article 83 of Law Number 3 of 2011 concerning Transfer of Funds and/or Article 378 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 5 years in prison.
Iman Mahlil Moves Alone
The Director of the Criminal Investigation Unit for Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Auliansyah Lubis said that his party was still conducting an in-depth examination of the suspect. So far, the suspect has admitted to committing fraud by using this fake QRIS alone.
“For the time being he is alone,” Auliansyah told journalists, Wednesday (12/4).
According to provisional acknowledgment, Iman Mahlil has acted in 38 mosques spread across South Jakarta, Central Jakarta, to Tangerang. Iman Mahlil is also suspected of sticking QRIS in several banks to mosques and prayer rooms located in shopping centers.
“From several places that have been pasted by the person concerned, there are 38 points. There are several other places in Pondok Indah Mall and Grand Indonesia,” said Auliansyah.
