8. ‘Parador de los Reyes Católicos in Santiago de Compostela’
It is possibly the most appropriate name for the ‘Parador de Santiago de Compostela’, since it was Isabel la Católica herself who gave the order to build this building as a hospital in 1501 -however, construction did not begin until 1511- . The façade gives an idea of the importance it had at the time, a Renaissance work loaded with carved images representing different saints and even Adam and Eve, the first sinners. Here they have passed from the highest spheres of the Catholic Church, to Emilia Pardo Bazán or Mick Jaggeralthough that does not mean that there are those who decide to rest in one of the rooms after having completed the Camino de Santiago.
