Sony Posts 22 Vacancies for Cloud Gaming Development and Operations

Sony has posted 22 vacancies online related to cloud gaming. One such job specifically calls for “being able to develop and deliver a vision for streaming cloud games on PlayStation.”

There are 22 vacancies in total online related to cloud gaming. This includes five positions for platform developers, three for software developers, two for technical project managers and at least one for a technical writer. Sony is also looking for four reliability engineers including a manager, a DevOps programmer, a junior network administrator and a senior business intelligence analyst. In addition, the vacancies for a security architect and a network capacity planner are open.

The job descriptions of some vacancies are clearly aimed at activities related to cloud gaming. For example, the senior business intelligence analyst will work on “analysis for the cloud gaming experience” and the security architect will focus on “future technology and cloud gaming.” The locations of the vacancies are often in Aliso Viejo in California. In that place is Gaikai, a cloud gaming company that Sony bought ten years ago.

Sony, like many other tech companies, recently laid off a significant part of its staff, but at the same time seems to be focusing on the development of cloud gaming in particular. The job postings don’t describe exactly what project the new employees would be working on. However, recently there have been more rumors that Sony wants to do more with cloud gaming. For example, a week ago there was a rumor that Sony was working on a handheld console that would function as a cloud gaming device that streams games from the PlayStation 5.
