Fifty people were evacuated from a nursing home on Kees Klerxstraat in Vlijmen on Wednesday morning. They became unwell due to a diesel smell in the building. A number of sheltered homes have also been evacuated as a precaution.
At the moment, the fire brigade and ambulance are at the nursing home. People with dementia or a physical condition live there. Police are still investigating where the smell came from. The street has also been closed off.
A large part of the residents are accommodated in the chapel in the courtyard. Because there is not enough room for everyone there, some of them are taken to the town hall.
According to a 112 correspondent, there is no panic. However, some residents would have complained of headaches.
