Migrants, Piantedosi “A country alone cannot take charge of it” – Il Tempo

ROME (ITALPRESS) – “First of all, security has changed its perspective, the more the question of living in safety expands, the more complex the concept of security becomes”. This was stated by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, speaking during the celebrations of the 171st anniversary of the foundation of the State Police. “A category of security has emerged over the years, understood as a public good. Everything that is subtracted from security – he added – is subtracted from civil life, it is theft of intangible assets. If this has been the concept of security evolution, we can affirm that the State Police embodies all its principles and values”.
The minister then explained how “we live in an era in which the world scenario is crossed by numerous major crises for which it no longer seems possible to indicate every single cause and consequently a single solution. It is not only in great upheavals that the safeguarding role of the State Police emerges: for a long time now you have added to your traditional functions also unprecedented forms of complex phenomena. I am thinking, for example, of the management of immigration, the government of which can hardly be taken over by a country outside of lucid and organized joint action at a European level”.
