The German police made an unexpected discovery on the highway near Aachen. During a check, officers were amazed to find a load of fried bats in the loading space of a delivery van. The vehicle also carried about a thousand kilos of unrefrigerated fish.
The 31-year-old driver, a man from Ivory Coast, had driven from Belgium to Germany. Where he intended to take the cargo is unknown. The discovery was made on Monday and was released today.
It later turned out that the man had also entered Germany without identity papers and a driver’s license. His van was also uninsured and unregistered. The man can count on several fines, including for committing various traffic violations.
The police seized the bus and its cargo. The man must remain in jail for the time being. He is later extradited to Italy, where he is registered. The cargo is destroyed.
