The Head of DKI Jakarta Satpol PP, Arifin, stated that his party has recruited 2,086 social welfare service (PPKS) recipients ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1442 H. These recipients are individuals ranging from beggars to homeless people. Arifin noted that the Satpol PP had conducted several PPKS raids in the months leading up to Eid, which resulted in fewer PPKS numbers. This is likely due to the shock therapy effect that the raids have on those who may use Ramadan as an opportunity to beg in Jakarta.
After being arrested, the PPKS are brought to government-owned social institutions, where the Social Service conducts an assessment. Individuals with DKI ID cards are trained, while those from outside Jakarta are returned to their origins. Homeless people and beggars are the most frequently caught groups in the Satpol PP raids, with more than 500 individuals arrested. These individuals are often found on the sides of roads or in crowded places, economic centers, shopping markets, and places of worship.
