Willow Branches vs Urban Railway: The Priority Debate

The photo of a hurried woman with willow branches in front of a moving tram that got up a hit on social networks, provoked a debate on the question of which is the priority – the urban railway or the pedestrian. Only in front of bTV, whatman Rumen Petrov and the author of photography Ivan Shishiev spoke.

After a short journey, at the end of his work shift, bTV met the Whatman in the capital’s tram number 18, whose reaction went around the Internet. He remembers the situation from Tsvetnitsa and points out that in this case the woman in the frame had an advantage.

“Point out the green light on her. She was gesticulating and I thought she was worried about stepping on her. And I stop, and that’s why my reaction was so surprising. I ask, “Why are you scolding me, madam?” Here, I have stopped.” In the next moment, I raise two thumbs up and tell her: “Yes, you have priority, I have stopped,” said Rumen Petrov, the videographer from the photo.

And does crossing with a willow branch protect against being hit by a tram?

“Categorically – no,” says Rumen Petrov.

The photo has already become an occasion for collages on any subject. Its author admits that he also has fun with them.

“It was extremely interesting for me to see how absolutely all social networks exploded. This picture shows the Bulgarian mentality and how we cross despite everything. The general human mentality is like that,” said the author of the photo and of “Etudes of Sofia” Ivan Shishiev.

And the tram driver reminds:

“Basically, we also have the right of way on footpaths, but few people know that. They don’t comply, we always drive with caution,” says the driver Rumen Petrov.

Before crossing, be careful and not only for trams.
