iOS 16.4 Introduces Interactive Music Play Indicator for Better User Experience

As we reported while the update was still in beta, iOS 16.4 brought a lot of small tweaks to the Music app: action indicator (addition to a playlistbookmarking…) smaller, shortcut to the artist’s page on Apple Music, more compact Playlists view… There was one detail that we had missed: the play indicator present in the lists, to the left of the name of the title or on the thumbnail of the cover, is no longer quite the same.

iOS 16.4: the new indicator that comes alive following the music

Previously, this indicator animated randomly. Now, the sound wave really follows the music: it is flat when there is silence and it grows when the sound rises. It’s a nice little touch that Spotify doesn’t offer its users.

iOS 15: the old indicator that animated randomly (on still images, the difference is not obvious, but you can believe us)
