The Balikatan exercise, involving over 17,000 military officers and personnel, will take place from April 11 to 28 in the Philippines.

The 38th installment of the Balikatan exercise began on 11 April 2016 in Luzon and Antique. It will be the first such exercise under the leadership of current Philippine President, Ferdinand Marcos Jr. Known as the largest Balikatan exercise to date, some 17,000 military personnel and officers were expected to participate from both the Philippine and US armed forces. The event ran for 18 days.
