Four teenagers were travelling in the car, which hit a tree early on the morning of December 27, killing 14-year-old Kirsty Bohan and Lucas Joyce. There were two other passengers, a 14-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy, who remain in a serious condition. The incident happened at around 5.45am on the L6127 at Glennagarraun in the Ballyfruit area. The tragedy has caused a ripple effect in the community, with the local school, Presentation College Headford, offering counselling services to their classmates and asking parents to monitor their child’s social media activity to ensure they are sensitive and careful about what they post. Gardai are appealing for anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward as they continue to engage with the families of those involved.
