Florida University System Bans TikTok and Other Apps Due to Cybersecurity Risks

The Board of Governors of the University System of Florida in the southern United States announced a ban on the use of TikTok and other applications, software and developers such as Kaspersky, VKontakte and WeChat on devices belonging to the state universities.

This decision was made due to the continuing risks of cyberattacks. Universities are required to remove these technologies from all devices belonging to the Florida University System and to block network traffic associated with these technologies. This ban took effect immediately. The CNN news channel reported this information citing a memo from the Council.
