Sven Mislintat appointed as Ajax’s new Director of Football Affairs

Mislintat (Dortmund, November 5, 1972) worked successively from 2006 to 2017 as head of scouting and head of professional football at Borussia Dortmund. He then joined Arsenal in England, as head of recruitment. In 2019 he returned to the Bundesliga, where he started working as sporting director at VFB Stuttgart. In November of last year, Mislintat did not renew his contract there, after he announced that he was looking for a new challenge.

Since the departure of Marc Overmars in February 2022, the vacant position of director of football affairs at Ajax has been filled by technical managers Gerry Hamstra and Klaas Jan Huntelaar. Huntelaar will remain technical manager and will report to Mislintat.

The search for the right person was preceded by a careful process. We were looking for someone who offensive and attractive football, has an international network and has an eye for both scouting and development and growth of our own youth. I was born and raised in Dortmund and grew up in the shadow of big, traditional clubs. Since my youth, I see Ajax as one of the most iconic football clubs in the world. It is a great honor to become Ajax’s director of football affairs and I see it as my duty to serve the club in the best possible way.”
