This February, a new animated film Resident Evil: Death Island was announced, which is produced by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and will be released in the summer. The new film follows the film Vendetta as well as the Infinite Darkness miniseries, with Death Island taking place in 2015, i.e. between games numbered 6 and 7. The first trailer already teased the story lines of Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield, as well as the connection with the famous Alcatraz Island. A new trailer should be revealed in the near future, but as we’ve been used to lately, we get to know a little bit earlier via a leak.
A known leaker and insider Dusk Golem shared immediately with two interesting images – a poster and a shot, both of which depict several familiar faces. “I think whoever the villain is in Resident Evil: Death Island (the upcoming CG film) will probably be dead by the end of it,” Dusk Golem commented on images of the powerful squad. This gives fans a view that has not been possible to see before, as some of the characters meet for the very first time. In the group photos, we can see Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Rebecca Chambers, Claire Redfield and Leon Kennedy, who are together ready to face an unknown threat or enemy. Sounds like an interesting combination of forces, anyway. We are expecting a big meeting of the main characters we know from the games.
However, to be precise, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Jill and Leon side-by-side, as they were already pictured together in one of the two images that were shown a month ago during Capcom Spotlight 2023. However, they’ve never actually met until now, but some point out that Jill looks like she does in the Resident Evil 3 remake, although the game takes place in 1998. The leaked poster also reveals the release date of the movie, at least in Japan. According to him, the film should premiere there already on July 7, but it is not yet possible to say with certainty whether the same date will apply to the rest of the world. We will probably learn more during the presentation of the new trailer and, no doubt, other official information. However, the film is already raising considerable expectations among fans.
However, this is not the only leak, as it was later joined by a few other images from the film. On them, we can again see the group of protagonists together, but also María Gómez, who appeared in the previous film Resident Evil: Vendetta. And it is quite possible that the mysterious and as yet unknown villain can be seen here, so perhaps it is better to avoid the following pictures, just to be safe…
