Chemnitz/Dresden – She knows her rights and is not at a loss for advice: Martina Flade (30) from Chemnitz is Germany’s first Instagram judge!
She calls herself “frau_richter_in” on the social network, and the youth and criminal judge has been publishing short videos there for a few months. In which she explains everyday legal issues. Simple and understandable for everyone.
“You can explain it in a complicated way, but you can also explain it very simply,” says Flade. For example, that you lose your driver’s license from 1.1 per mille when driving an e-scooter or that in most federal states, first-time offenders who use around six grams of marijuana for their own use would not be prosecuted.
If you look for things like that on the internet, it’s usually too late and it’s not far to go to an expensive lawyer. “Friends gave me the idea because I’m often asked for legal advice.”
Although she has “only” around 1700 subscribers, the number is growing every day. Negative or offensive comments? None! “Probably because it also says that I’m a criminal judge,” says Flade. Even if some of her colleagues take a critical look at the website, she remains undeterred. “You have to keep up with the times.”
In the near future she wants to publish a podcast with a lawyer, i.e. a series of audio contributions, on legal topics.
