Latvian “crossover / thrash metal” band “Terror Activator” has released their new single “Two-Faced Gateway” from the forthcoming album “Forcibly Wasted”. The song touches on the heavy but unfortunately well-known subject of addictions.
The song “Two-Faced Gateway” was recorded in the “Non-Stop Records” studio (Latvia), but its processing was done in Poland, in the “Widek Studio” studio.
“The song touches on a heavy topic – the use of psychoactive substances,” the musicians of “Terror Activator” explain the message. “The initial phase is the beginning of the path of addiction, which often begins with a socially acceptable drug – alcohol. It is widely believed that the so-called “gateway drug” is marijuana, and indeed it has been true many times, but there is usually something else before that. The most popular drug used worldwide, the drug that most people are not afraid to try as their first high, is alcohol. It is available everywhere, so its mental and physical effects are overlooked and people tend not to see it as a drug. The opening lyrics of the song “There was a time nothing would kick in” refer to the point in life when one drinks alcohol without taking it too seriously and it starts to become a routine. When a person is already used to it, under certain circumstances, he decides to try something more serious and can no longer go back even to the fact that he was addicted “only” to alcohol, regretting this decision every damn morning. Although a person blames himself for what happened, there is also contempt for the “Two-Faced Gateway”, that is, alcohol – for the one who unlocked this gate once and has not let a person out since.
“Terror Activator” is a group from Riga, founded in 2017. Band composition: Band composition: Ernests Gailis (vocals), Vadims Gadirovs (guitar), Eduards Zaichenkovs (guitar), Aleksandrs Korolko (bass) and Pavels Zhuricha (drums). The group has already performed at many concerts and festivals in the Baltics, especially gaining great popularity in Lithuania. This year, Latvian thrash metallers plan to participate in the rock and metal music festival “Devilstone”, which has been held in the Lithuanian city of Anīkšči since 2009.
