Indonesia’s Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister seeks partnership with China’s Shenzhen expert team for the development of the new capital city.

Indonesia’s Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment Minister, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, is partnering with a team of experts from Shenzhen, China, to participate in the development of Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan. Pandjaitan hopes that the Shenzhen team will be able to design and manage the construction of a supporting cluster in IKN. Additionally, Pandjaitan met with the special envoy of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed (MBZ), who expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with the expert team from Shenzhen. The IKN team has garnered high levels of interest from Chinese companies, and Pandjaitan urged the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) to recommend which companies will be able to contribute to IKN’s development. Earlier, Pandjaitan attended a meeting in China with the chairman of NDRC, Zheng Shanjie, during which they discussed several cooperation projects between Indonesia and China, including IKN. Pandjaitan hopes to receive support from the Chinese government for the progress of IKN’s development.
