Magnolia Núñez It is today the face of Dominican cinema at the Ibero-American level. She earned this privilege after achieving the nomination in the Platinum Awards in the category of Best Female Performance for her leading role in the film “Little girl”.
In this film, directed by Ulises Porra and Silvina Schnicer, she plays Yarisa, a nanny who has a special relationship with the girl she cares for, who seems to transcend her social class, but who is put to the test by a dramatic incident.
It is about a strong but human character who confronted her with a world she was unaware of and made her push herself even more as an actress.
“(Since I read the script) I was very interested in that character because I knew it was a voice that needed to be heard,” said Núñez.
This character is different from her, which made her get involved in a previous creative process to get to the insides of the character. “First I am not a mother, she (Yarisa) is a mother, I had to do a lot of research; talk to my mom and the other mothers in my life and ask them those questions that are so necessary to get to the feeling of the character. Of that love that exists, but that your family is also there, ”she reviewed.
When asked about the way she prepares a character like this, she added: “There are so many levels, so much (emotional) load, that what I did was to be completely vulnerable, after creating the character of Yarisa, and let her she was the one to guide me to where I wanted to go ”.
“The biggest challenge for a character like this is to be completely vulnerable and let your emotions guide you, not stop them,” the actress reiterated.

“When I got that call at 6 in the morning, which I didn’t even know was the day the nominations would be announced, I was extremely excited. I had a thousand emotions because I understand that there were almost a thousand movies and, of those several good actresses; I was in shock, ”she reiterated.

Beyond being anxious about the competition, she confessed that she feels lucky to represent half of the island in this important event that brings together the best of the seventh art industry.
“I feel honored to be the face of the Dominican Republic. I am born and raised in New York, but my parents are Dominican, so being able to represent my blood is very nice,” she expressed.
“As an actress, one dreams of doing their job, and doing what one does and being recognized for that is very nice,” she said, letting tears flow.
