Several Drivers Lose Licenses During Swiss Easter Sunday Speed Check

During a speed check, the cantonal police caught a motorcyclist at 152 km/h outside of Schöftland on Easter Sunday. Like him, several drivers had to hand in their driving licenses during further checks

On Easter Sunday, the cantonal police in Aargau carried out a speed check on Böhlerstrasse near Schöftland using a laser measuring device. The top speed on this mountain route, which is popular with motorcyclists, is 80 km/h. Shortly after 11 a.m., the measuring device recorded a motorcyclist who was driving towards the village at 152 km/h. After deduction of the legal tolerance, a punishable speed limit of 67 km/h results.

The police stopped the sports machine, which was being driven by a 42-year-old. Since the so-called speeding article was fulfilled with the extremely high speed, the public prosecutor’s office opened a criminal investigation and confiscated the motorcycle. The cantonal police reported the driver and took his driving license away.

Further driver’s licenses removed on the spot

Also on Sunday morning, the cantonal police carried out a laser measurement in Hardwald near Eiken. There she stopped a motorist at 125 km/h instead of the permitted 80 km/h. After the verdict on site, he had to hand in his driver’s license.

For the time being, two motorcyclists were allowed to continue driving, who were also measured at the same time on Sunday morning at 117 km/h at Benken near Oberhof. The same applies to a motorcyclist who was hit by the laser on the Mutschellenstrasse near Zufikon at 118 km/h. All three are at risk of having their driver’s license withdrawn later by the Road Traffic Office.

The cantonal police had already carried out a laser check in Boowald near Vordemwald and on Bözberg on Saturday. On these out-of-town routes, she measured three motorists at 122, 123 and 140 km/h. All three had to hand in their driving licenses on the spot.
