Just before 2 p.m., the police in Innlandet report that a person has been confirmed dead after an accident in Trysil. It was also reported that one person was critically injured.
– The police received a report about the accident at 12.48, says operations manager Øyvind Bakke.
Two died
He states that it was a hit-and-run accident, where one person was confirmed dead at the scene. The person, who was initially reported as critically injured, was later confirmed dead.
The police have not received any information that it is slippery at the site.
– We have not received information about difficult driving conditions, but cannot rule it out, says Bakken.
Pending investigations, the road at the site will be closed.
On Monday afternoon, the police in Oslo report that there has been a traffic accident on the E18 just before the center of Asker.
– A car has driven into the guard rail and is blocking the entire road, the police write on Twitter.
The police are directing traffic through the center of Asker in anticipation of car rescuers, they report in an update.
– Long queues at the scene, the police inform at 2pm. However, at 2.25pm they report that the road is open again.
Farevarsel
A transition to worse weather has been expected in southern Norway on Monday. Whether weather and driving are the cause of the fatal accident in Trysil, as well as the accident in Asker, is, however, too early to say anything about at the present time.
From 13.00, local snow squalls were expected in the mountains in southern Norway and the meteorologists have sent out a yellow warning.
– Avoiding unnecessary traffic in exposed places is among their recommendations.
As a result of snow drifts, there may be queues/closed roads in some places. Driving conditions can also be difficult due to snow on the road and reduced visibility.
– You just have to get in the car and get home, said state meteorologist on duty Dag Ottar Fagerli at Værvarslinga in Western Norway to NRK on Monday morning.
The warning applies until 02:00 on Tuesday.
Fagerli says that Hardangervidda and Haukelifjell are very susceptible to convoy driving.
He therefore recommends considering other mountain passes if you are going from east to west, or vice versa, on Easter Monday.
