On Friday, February 28, it was officially inaugurated at the San Pedro Claver Sanctuary Museum the art exhibition ‘Northeast Winds’. A show inspired by La Guajiralike a land of whispers and silences.
This artistic work is a compilation of experiences of the young artist Davier Perez Reynoso, brought to the tangible through drawing and painting; where the viewer is invited to learn from art the social reality of a community and a territory.
With this exhibition, the schedule of traveling exhibitions for the year 2020 of the San Pedro Claver Museum Sanctuary begins. The opening day began with an open forum in which Linda Zurek, coordinator of the Museo, in the company of the artist. There, Davier revealed his professional career, and the creative process around ‘northeast winds’. For his part, he Fr. Jorge Camacho, S.J. director of the Sanctuary, welcomed the attendees, and recalled that “this space wants to continue opening its doors and welcoming emerging artists, with proposals that go hand in hand with the missionary line of the Human rights“.
At the end of the forum, they were invited to get a closer look at the artistic proposal of this exhibition in the Coro room, where the guests were able to appreciate Pérez’s intentionality, thought through his life experience in La Guajira. During this space, the artist surprised the visitors, creating live a new work in charcoal on mdf.
This exhibition is made up of more than 10 works, including large-format pieces on canvas in mixed media, and small-format pieces in graphite on paper. ‘Northeast Winds’ will be available in the Choir room of the San Pedro Claver Sanctuary Museum until the end of April. The invitation is to Cartagena residents and tourists, to visit and learn about these and other artistic proposals at the Human Rights Headquarters, located in the historic center of Cartagena, from Monday to Friday from 08:00 a.m. to 05:30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 08:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
