Slovakian defenseman Šimon Nemec shines in AHL win with Utica

Slovakian hockey defenseman Šimon Nemec helped Utica win 5:0 over Toronto on Saturday night in the overseas AHL with two assists. He also scored two plus points in the match.

The German has 29 points (10+19) after 61 games of the season. He is the second most productive defender in the history of the competition in the under-19 category.

At this age, only Dave Maloney collected more points in one AHL season among backs, in 1974/75 he scored 33 points (5+28) in 58 regular season games for the Providence Reds.

Striker Marián Studenič also scored, contributing to Texas’ 7:3 triumph over Tucson with an assist. In the current season, he has scored 44 points (18+26) in 62 games so far.
