French Drivers Struggle at Texas Indycar Championship Stop: Simon Pagenaud “Not Where We Need to Be”

The American Indycar championship stopped last Sunday at the Texas Motor Speedway. And clearly, the track in question will not have smiled on the French drivers this season. In addition to Romain Grosjean’s crash at the end of the race, the other Frenchman present on the grid, Simon Pagenaud, experienced an ordeal, driving a single-seater simply lacking rhythm. Hence a certain frustration on the part of the person concerned, whose desire remains to improve the situation as quickly as possible.

Simon Pagenaud: “not where we need to be”

Simon Pagenaud : « We started the race well, but what we saw in qualifying happened again in the race – the car was very slow. Fortunately the handling was satisfactory and the whole team did a great job to get the most out of it. Now we have to get to work and find out what’s wrong. It’s a blow, we are not where we need to be. Helio (Castroneves) did a great job with 10th place. Congratulations to him and his team. We finish the race in one piece this time but we have to do better. »

Finally ranked 17th under the checkered flag, Simon Pagenaud is currently in 24th place, with a total of 18 points, after two Grand Prix. Next meeting for the Frenchman and his rivals, April 16, 2023, in California, with the Long Beach event.
