NEW YORK. Never before in the NHL have so many games been played in one day as on Saturday, April 8. All 32 teams of the competition participated in 16 matches.
Slovaks also played. Martin Feherváry was the team’s busiest player in Washington’s 2:4 loss against Florida. He played 26 minutes and 19 seconds. He played almost four minutes in a weakened position and also got a chance in the second power formation.
Although he did not score any Canadian points, he had four hits and three blocks.
Miloš Kelemen did not score in the match between Arizona and Anaheim. He played nine minutes and five seconds and gave up four hits. “Coyotes” won 5:4 after extra time.
Erik Černák came out empty-handed against Ottawa. In 18 minutes and 38 seconds, he gave up three hits and scored two minus points. His Tampa Bay lost 4-7.
Tomáš Tatar started the Boston match against New Jersey in the jersey of the guests. The Devils lost 1-2 and Tatar went scoreless with three shots and four hits. He played 14 minutes and 18 seconds.
Crosby with 1500 points
Pittsburgh Penguins hockey players won 5:1 on the ice of Detroit Red Wings.
Host captain Sidney Crosby recorded two goals and one assist. He thus achieved his 1,500th Canadian point in the NHL and thus ranked among the absolute elite.
“This is a team sport – that’s what we signed up for and that’s why we love it,” he said.
“Of course I’m happy to be in such a company. My attitude has always been to be the best I can be and then see where it takes me,” he added.
“He’s not just one of the best players of his generation, he’s one of the best players of all time,” praised coach Mike Sullivan.
McDavid among the legends
Edmonton’s star forward Connor McDavid also reached a big milestone. He scored two goals and added an assist against San Jose, he helped the “oilers” win 6:1. He scored his 150th point this season.
He became only the sixth player in NHL history to do so. Before him, Phil Esposito, Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux, Bernie Nichols and Steve Yzerman did it.
“A special player has joined an elite group in hockey history,” Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft said. “He’s driven to make the team win. That’s a big reason why we won today.”

McDavid became the first player to reach 150 points since the 1995/1996 season, when Mario Lemieux did it. They prepared a video for Edmonton’s captain, in which all five players who reached 150 points congratulated him.
“It really hit me. It was special, it was amazing to hear all these players, it means a lot to me,” McDavid said.
After the match, McDavid already has 151 points for 64 goals and 87 assists. He is the NHL leader in all these statistics.
Boston has the most wins
Boston Bruins defeated New Jersey Devils 2:1. Czech Pavel Zacha played the main role in the victory, scoring two goals. Goalkeeper Linus Ullmark stopped 29 of 30 shots.
It was already the 62nd victory of the season for the “bears”, which equaled the NHL record for the number of victories in one year, which was previously held by Detroit and Tampa Bay hockey players.
Boston has 129 points after 79 games played and clearly leads the league scoring by twenty points ahead of Carolina.
The Bruins will have three more games to tie for the lead in wins. They still have a chance to become the team with the most points ever. They need three points to equal Montreal’s 1976/77 season.
New Jersey’s Jesper Bratt scored the only goal in the match. He was assisted by Jack Hughes and Ondřej Palát. It was Hughes’ 96th point this season. He thus equaled the club record for the number of points in one year, which was previously held by Czech Patrik Eliáš.
In the game of Minnesota against St. Louis, the players of the home team managed an unprecedented feat. During the 20 seconds of weakening, they scored two goals.
Ryan Hartman had a point share for both. He scored the first, passed on the second. He became the thirteenth player in NHL history to score two points on a layup in twenty seconds or less. The last time Peter Forsberg did it was in 1995.
