In Vecpiebalga, on the shore of Lake Alauksta, after a two-year break, the music festival “Imantdienas”, which has become a cultural and historical tradition, will return to the audience, gathering many well-known performers of Imantas Kalniņš’s music. It will take place on July 1.
In keeping with the Song and Dance Festival, a song with the words of Imantas Ziedonis, “Mūžu žīņos will be a song” was chosen as the musical theme of Imantdienu, which, combining well-known performers and musical interpreters, sang songs from the very beginnings of “Imantdienu” as well as popular compositions that live with the times and have not lost their relevance even today.
They will be performed by “Raxtu Raxti”, Shipsea, Marts Kristiāns Kalniņš, Ainars Mielavs, Olga Rajecka, Uģis Roze, Līga Priede, Agnese, Goran Gora, Ieva Akuratere, etc.
Marts Kristiāns Kalniņš about “Imantdienė”: “Since my early childhood, this holiday has been highly anticipated for me – one of the biggest musical events of the year. Being in music, meeting the audience, the musicians, singing together has influenced me throughout my life. Here I formed as a person, improved and gained experience. Of course, I feel responsible for this tradition – that it lives on, sounds near and far, and that my children are also able to experience, feel and sing their song in this fast-paced and complicated world.”
