Dr. Jad Al-Qadi, head of the National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research, announced the date of Eid Al-Fitr for the year 1444 AH; Corresponding to 2023 AD.

And the judge said, in an official statement, that the blessed Eid Al-Fitr will be on Friday, April 21, 2023 AD, and its prayer will be at 5:47 am in Greater Cairo.

The crescent of the month of Shawwal will be born directly, according to astronomical calculations at the Institute’s Sun Research Laboratory, after the conjunction occurred at exactly six o’clock and 14:00 am local Cairo time, on Thursday, Ramadan 29, 1444 AH, corresponding to 4/20/2023 AD (the day of sighting).

Al-Qadi indicated that the new crescent will remain in the sky of Makkah Al-Mukarramah for a period of 23 minutes, and in Cairo for a period of 27 minutes after sunset on that day (the day of sighting), and in the governorates of the Arab Republic of Egypt, the new crescent will remain in its sky for periods ranging between (24-29 minutes).

And the new crescent will remain in the Arab and Islamic capitals and cities after sunset on that day for periods ranging between (10-35 minutes), and thus the start of the month of Shawwal 1444 AH astronomically will be on Friday 4/21/2023 AD (the blessed Eid Al-Fitr).

Citizens will have the Eid leave for 3 consecutive days, starting from Friday, April 21 (the first day of Eid Al-Fitr), Saturday, April 22 (the second day of Eid), and Sunday, April 23 (the third day of Eid Al-Fitr).
