Pregnant woman denied entry to Egyptian hospital due to lack of payment; fetus dies. Director dismissed.

Al-Marsad Newspaper: The incident of an Egyptian governmental hospital in Cairo Governorate refusing to receive a pregnant woman who wanted to give birth without paying the required amount sparked widespread controversy after the death of her fetus.

The details of the incident come back after Masri filed an official police report against the management of Kafr Shukr Hospital

Specialist in Qalyubia Governorate, accusing her of refusing to admit his wife to the operating room to give birth, except after paying an amount of 1,600 Egyptian pounds (less than 50 dollars), according to Sky News.

The man explained in his communication that he did not have the money, which forced his wife to give birth at the hospital’s reception door, and led to the fetus falling to the ground and his death.

For her part, the head of the Secretariat of Specialized Medical Centers at the Ministry of Health, Maha Ibrahim, decided to dismiss the director of Kafr Shukr Hospital, appoint a new director for it, and bring about radical changes in the administration. She also ordered the opening of an urgent investigation to find out the circumstances of the incident.
