Quezon City, Philippines received multiple local and international awards in March 2023 for its innovative programs. The city’s Facebook page managed by the QC Public Affairs and Information Services Department (PAISD) won the Most Innovative Facebook Page award in the Stevie Asia-Pacific Awards. The city’s recycling waste trading program, Trash to Cashback, won the Best Practice of Innovative Technology award from the International Climate Development Institute. The program has collected over 124,000 kilograms of recyclable waste since its launch and converts them into environmental points that residents can use to pay bills or buy groceries. The city received four other awards and citations during the Digital Governance Awards and the Urban Farmers Federation received the Asia’s Most Innovative Urban Gardening of the New Millennium award for its commitment to ensuring food security in the city. The QC Mayor Joy Belmonte said the awards are a testament to the quality of work the city provides its citizens as it continues to strive towards becoming a smart, sustainable, and environment-friendly city.
