  • Nutritionist Wafaa Felfel says, in an interview with “Sky News Arabia”, that the energy reserve decreases for many fasting people during the second half of Ramadan, due to several elements, the most important of which is the approved diet, which does not guarantee that the body will be given all its needs, noting that It is possible to overcome this feeling, by relying on food suggestions that contribute to avoiding the feeling of fatigue.
  • Felfel recommends focusing during breakfast on soups, which contain bone broth, whether chicken or meat, given that they contain a number of important minerals, such as calcium, phosphorus and magnesium, which help support bone strength in humans, pointing to the importance of eating soups that contain Vegetables, as they are rich in minerals and thus help moisturize the body, to protect it from dehydration, which increases the risk of occurrence with the progression of Ramadan.
  • According to Felfel, fasting people should focus on eating salads rich in minerals and vitamins, during the second half of Ramadan, such as lentil salad, beetroot salad with quinoa, tuna and corn salad, quinoa salad with avocado and cheese, and freekeh and walnut salad, as these salads contain complex carbohydrates. , and good proteins and fats that provide the minerals, proteins and fibers necessary for the body to function with energy and vitality.
  • The nutritionist says that the main dish during breakfast should consist of stews rich in vegetables and broth, such as vegetable stew with meat and chicken curry, and potato stew. It is also possible to use foods that contain milk such as shish barak, kibbeh with milk, zucchini with milk and kofta with milk, noting that These foods contribute to moisturizing and nourishing the body and giving it energy.

When food becomes an energy consumer

Sometimes, instead of food in the month of Ramadan being a source of activity, it turns to consume the energy of the fasting person’s body, according to nutritionist Heba Hassan, who told Sky News Arabia that the reason for this is foods rich in fats and sweets.
To counteract the low energy, Hassan recommends replacing white rice with brown rice, as it is rich in manganese, a mineral that helps the body produce energy from carbohydrates and proteins, which makes a person feel energized for a longer period.

She invited Hassan to eat “a vegetable soup that contains potatoes, onions, carrots, zucchini, and parsley, while it is also possible to resort to a salad made of watercress, green apples, walnuts and pomegranates, which provide the body with energy.”

With regard to the Suhoor meal, Hassan says: “Because of fatigue, many fasting people avoid the Suhoor meal, because they are unable to wake up,” noting that this meal is “a source of energy for the body during the day in Ramadan, especially if it is rich in slow-absorbing carbohydrates, such as whole grains and milk.” And its derivatives, protein, vegetables and fruits that give the body sustainable energy.
