A 41-year-old woman lost her life while climbing a frozen waterfall on Sunday in Utah (UNITED STATES). The incident took place while she was helping her partner, a 21-year-old woman, who was in difficulty, says The Guardian. “Unfortunately, themountaineer who pushed her comrade out of the collapsing ice got stuck under two large blocks of ice and did not survive,” the local sheriff’s office posted on Facebook.
The young survivor called the relief once safe. A 34-year-old man, who accompanied the two climbers, was seriously injured after falling about 12 meters. He was taken to hospital. In the photos shared by the sheriff’s office, a huge block of ice is visible. It was he who fell off the frozen waterfall.
Several hours of research were necessary to find the body of the victim, reports CBS. The sheriff’s office wanted to salute the “courageous woman who lost her life saving another” and to offer its condolences to the relatives of the victim. She worked for an association helping young refugees through climbing and outdoor activities. “We have lost a dear friend, a hero and our fearless leader,” the organization commented on Instagram.
